Verizon Wireless has announced the introduction of the new Blackberry 9850 Torch. The new Torch will add Verizon’s impressive line up of Blackberry smartphones and has been eagerly anticipated by the Blackberry faithful who have had to endure years waiting for the release of a model that can measure up to the likes of Apple’s iPhone.
With Blackberry’s stronghold on the mobile phone marketplace slowly eroded from competition from the likes of the iPhone and the rest of the Android devices, the 9850 Torch is RIM answer and new weapon. The 9850 has RIMs new OS7 operating system that was specifically designed for the new enhanced screen touch models. The new Torch has a 3.7 inch screen and does not have a built in keyboard. This is not new to RIM as they tried this approach with the Storm series. However, with a much faster 1.2GHz processor and true touchscreen the new 9850 is a contender.
RIM has launched 5 new models over the summer but the 9850 and 9860 Torch have been the most anticipated. If the phone is what it is racked up to be, it could be a real winner and Blackberry could see not only a return of customers it lost to iPhone and Android, but most importantly it could stem the waves of customers that have left in search of the complete touchscreen experience. Follow us on Unlockology as we review the new 9850 Torch.

The long awaited release of the Blackberry Storm 3 might soon be over. The buzz on the street is that it will be released sometime in the fall of 2011. There have already been sightings of demo models.
The Storm 3 is Blackberry’s head on competitor to the iphone, because of its keyboard-free design. With Apple getting ready to release the iphone 5, the pressure on RIM to deliver a game changing Blackberry Storm 3 has never been higher.
The new Storm 3 is supposed to come with a track pad and a 3.7inch 480×800 display. It will be compatible on CDMA and EVDO 3G networks as it is destined to be released on the USA Verizon wireless network. The biggest noticeable change will be the touchscreen. It will no longer be the SurePress click-down screen. It will be loaded with the latest Blackberry 6.1 firmware.
NFC technology is also scheduled to be included. This is beginning to be standard in most high-end smartphones as the trend to use cellphones instead of credit cards to make wireless payments grows.
All in all, this is a long anticipated release and a very important one for RIM Blackberry if it to keep pace with the invasion of the iPhone and other Android cellular phones that have invaded the marketplace and eroded RIM’s overall market share.
Here at Unlockology.com we will keep you posted of any new developments.
