9900 bold blackberry

RIM Blackberry has announced the launch of two models: the 9900 and 9930 Bold. No exact launch date has been given, although reports on various websites have the Bold models coming late summer.

The 9900 Bold is being launched on in the United States on the AT&T Wireless Network and the 9930 on the http://unlockology.com/index.php?main_page=product_free_shipping_info&cPath=1195&products_id=179 Network (USA). In the United Kingdom reports are that the 9900 will be available on Vodafone, Orange and Three Network.

Specs for both new models are yet to be posted on the Blackberry website. However we know that the look is similar to the 9000 Bold model. It will have a higher definition screen and a full QWERTY keyboard on the front and won’t have a slideout keyboard like the Torch http://unlockology.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=1181&products_id=912 model.

Blackberry does state on its website that the 9900 and 9930 will be easier to use and faster. They will both come loaded with the new Blackberry 7 OS (operating system) which should result in faster browsing and search times. It will come with a 1.2 GHz processor, 8GB of memory and a 720p HD video recorder. Other applications will include Wi-Fi, a compass, and NFC technology.

What’s new from Blackberry? It wouldn’t be called a Touch?

Tuesday, February 22nd, 2011

The buzz on the street is that RIM, the parent company of the Blackberry smartphone series, is about to launch a new device. A touchscreen device similar to a Blackberry Storm but with a full QWERTY keyboard like those on the Blackberry Bold. But different to the Blackberry Torch which has a slide out keyboard. By some it has been dubbed the Blackberry Touch, a name I very much doubt they will adopt given the fact that HTC, one RIM’s biggest competitors already markets the Touch series of mobile phones.

What will it look like and what will set it apart from the competition? Some are saying it will be more candy bar shaped. According to some the project is codenamed “Dakota.” It is supposed to have a 5-megapixel camera that can also be used to take HD video.

There is talk of an NFC chip (more…)

Research In Motion (RIM) and its Blackberry brand have a lot riding on the launch of the new Blackberry 9800 Torch. With the battle for Smartphone supremacy in full heat, and Apple’s iPhone sales showing no signs of a slow down, Blackberry has its work cut out for it. Google and it’s Android operating software is also a hot contender.

The new Blackberry 9800 Torch is a touchscreen slider. In other words, the phone looks like a full screen smartphone, like an iPhone. However, it has a bottom part that slides down and reveals and full QWERT keyboard and an optical trackpad.
The touchscreen on the 9800 Torch is a lot more responsive than its predecessor, the blackberry storm.  There are two options for typing. It can be done on the on-screen keyboard or on the slide out keyboard. The slide out keyboard is probably the best blackberry has made to date. The keys are wide enough to provide enough room to type comfortably. Have the combination of a touchscreen and a full sized slide out keyboard is what makes the 9800 Torch stand out from the competition.

The Blackberry 9800 Torch also comes loaded with RIM’s new OS 6.0 operating system. The layout is somewhat different to what Blackberry users are used to, but there are plenty of new additions and it is quite easy to get used to. Similar to an iPhone, you can finger swipe through (more…)
