The new Blackberry Pearl 2 3G was officially introduced during the 2010 Blackberry WES (Wireless Enterprise Symposium) show in Orlando, Florida. The completely redesigned Blackberry Pearl 2 9100 has a new look and is filled with new features. From what we heard here at Unlockology, the Blackberry 9100 Pearl will be available in the United Kingdom on the Vodafone UK wireless network.
The 9100 Pearl still remains a smaller version of the classic line of Blackberry phones. But don’t let the smaller size fool you. The 9100 Pearl is powerful and compact and is packed with powerful features that allow you to multitask. Switching back and forth between web pages, BBM and other open apps like Facebook or Twitter, is easier than ever.
A new feature is the optical trackpad. Even though RIM kept the Pearl brand name, there is no longer a pearl in the middle to help you navigate. The optical trackpad substitutes the pearl and is supposed to help with faster and smoother navigation.
The keyboard is also new. The SureType keyboard is slightly larger when compared to the 8100 series (8110, 8120, 8130) Blackberry Pearl. This should help improve typing speed and accuracy.
One of the best new features on the new 9100 Blackberry Pearl is that it supports the high-speed 3G networks. This will help navigating web pages and applications a lot faster. The 9100 supports Tri-Band UMTS/HSDPA and Quad-Band EDGE/GPRS/GSM networks.
The Blackberry Pearl 9100 also has Wi-Fi (802.11 b/g/n) and a sharp high-resolution display for stunning images. It has a GPS for location-based applications and the use of Blackberry Maps. Add a 3.2MP camera (with a flash, zoom, auto-focus & video), Bluetooth technology, and 32MB of memory and the 9100 Pearl is a very nicely equipped Smartphone.
RIM also announced the launch of the new Blackberry 6.0 OS. With a launch date scheduled for sometime in the third quarter of 2010. No official announcement has been made, but surely 6.0 will have to be compatible on the 9100 Pearl. The Blackberry 9100 comes carrier locked, but by using the unlocking service at Unlockology.com you will be able to have a SIM free 9100 Pearl.
We don’t have an official launch date on Vodafone UK, but if you click here and register, we will make sure to keep you posted on the latest developments from Blackberry and other Smartphone’s manufacturers like HTC, Motorola, Sony Ericsson, Nokia and Samsung.
